Life-like Watercolour Cat Portraits

I create custom cat portraits, hand-painted in watercolour. My aim isn't simply to recreate your cat's appearance, but to capture the little details that make them them.

Their expression, their eyes, their markings... I take my time over each of these features to create a portrait that truly captures their spirit.

Hand-Painted From Your Photos

Your photographs are the starting point for every portrait I paint.

I'll work closely with you to choose the best photographs and, where needed, can combine details from more than one photo to create the finished composition.

I pay particular attention to the features that make your cat unique, from the shape of their face and individual markings to the expression in their eyes.

The result is a completely personalised watercolour portrait, carefully painted to capture the details you know and love.

Memorial Cat Portraits

A portrait can be a particularly meaningful way to remember a much-loved cat who has passed away.

I understand that sometimes you may only have a small selection of photographs to work from, or that your favourite photograph might not be quite perfect. That's absolutely fine. I'm happy to discuss the photographs you have and see how we can create a beautiful memorial portrait from them.

I've created memorial cat portraits for customers who wanted something tangible to keep and remember a beloved companion.

Here's what one of my previous customers said about their memorial pet portrait.

What Cat Owners Say:

"The final portrait was stunning"

"Jo guided me through the process of providing the best photos for the composition of three cats. She was very patient and clearly put the client's needs first, whilst also providing professional advice and options to ensure the best results.

She kept me updated throughout the stages of the portrait and it was lovely to see the composition taking shape. The final portrait was stunning, she had really captured their features and characters, particularly the eyes."

Cat Portrait FAQs

Here are a few quick answers to common questions about my watercolour cat portraits. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, just ask — I’m always happy to help.

Do you paint all cat breeds?

Absolutely! Cats are so beautiful and it's such a pleasure capturing different breeds in watercolour.

From stripey Tabby Cats to majestic Maine Coons, I hand-paint each cat portrait with care to capture the breeds unique features.

Can you paint more than one cat in a portrait?

Yes, of course! I can combine multiple cats into a single portrait, even if they’re not in the same photo. I’ll make sure they look natural together while keeping each cat’s personality.

Take a look at my photo guide for advice on how to choose or take your photos.

Can you paint a full-body portrait of my cat?

Yes, I can. While many customers choose a head-and-shoulders portrait, I can also create a full-body composition.

Just send me a clear photo of their full pose and I'll create a beautiful watercolour painting for you.

Do you paint memorial portraits of cats?

Absolutely. I often create memorial portraits for pets who are no longer with us. It's a lovely way to remember your pet, celebrate their life and keep their presence close.

You're welcome to send me any photos you have, and I'll gently guide you through choosing the one that will work best.

What photographs do you need?

Ideally, clear photographs taken in good natural light work best. Don't worry if you're unsure which photos to choose. I'm very happy to look through them with you and advise on which ones will work best for the painting.

If you have any questions about commissioning a cat portrait, please get in touch. I'd love to hear about your cat and discuss your ideas.
